Copy a file from a Docker container to the host

Caution: This command changes the system. Understand what it does before you run it.

Adjust the values, the command updates live
root@server
docker cp app:/etc/nginx/nginx.conf /root/nginx.conf

Copies from the container to the host, and the container does not need to be running. For the other direction, swap the arguments: docker cp /root/datei app:/pfad/datei. Directories are copied recursively.

Note: An existing target file is overwritten without confirmation. Docker commands require root or the docker group.
