List unused Docker volumes

root@server
docker volume ls --filter dangling=true

Shows all volumes that no container references, neither running nor stopped. Often these are leftovers of deleted projects, but they can also be the data of a stack that was just stopped with docker compose down. Long hash names indicate anonymous volumes.

Note: docker volume inspect NAME shows the location of a volume under Mountpoint. Docker commands require root or the docker group.
