Show the full status of a systemd service

Adjust the values, the command updates live
user@server
systemctl status nginx --no-pager -l

Prints the state (active (running), failed, inactive), start time, main PID, memory usage and the last ten journal lines of the service. -l prevents long lines from being cut off, and --no-pager prints everything directly. Usually the first command to run when a website is unreachable.

Note: Without root, the log lines are only visible to members of the adm or systemd-journal group. Typical unit names are apache2, nginx, mariadb, psa and sw-engine.
