Rename many files at once
rename multiple files in linux | change file extension of many files | batch rename with search and replace | rename jpeg to jpg | rename | files | bulkCaution: This command changes the system. Understand what it does before you run it.
rename -n 's/\.jpeg$/.jpg/' *.jpegApplies a Perl expression to every matching file name, here a trailing .jpeg becomes .jpg. -n only shows what would happen without changing anything. If the preview looks right, run the same command without -n.
Note: This is the Perl rename from the Debian package rename (apt install rename), not the util-linux program of the same name, which uses a different syntax.
