Analyze the network path with mtr

Adjust the values, the command updates live
user@server
mtr -rwc 50 example.com

Sends the given number of probes to every hop on the way to the target and then prints a report with packet loss, average and worst latency. -w prevents long hostnames from being truncated. The report works well as an attachment to a support ticket.

Note: Packet loss at only one intermediate hop is often harmless because routers throttle ICMP. What matters is loss that persists all the way to the target. Package on Debian: mtr-tiny.
