Enable automatic updates for a plugin

Caution: This command changes the system. Understand what it does before you run it.

Adjust the values, the command updates live

wp plugin auto-updates enable wordfence --path=/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs

Applies the same setting as the “Enable auto-updates” link in the plugin list. The updates then run via WP-Cron. wp plugin auto-updates status --all shows the current state.

Note: Requires WP-CLI 2.5 or newer and WordPress 5.5 or newer. If WP-Cron is disabled, a real cron job is needed, otherwise nothing happens.
