user@server
wp core update --version=6.6.2 --force --path=/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs

Downloads the given version and replaces the core files, leaving wp-content and wp-config.php untouched. --force also allows a downgrade. Useful when an update breaks a plugin or theme and the old state has to be restored quickly.

Note: The database is not rolled back during a downgrade. Create a backup with wp db export first.
