List all Docker containers including stopped ones

root@server
docker ps -a

Shows all containers on the host, not just the running ones. In the STATUS column, Exited (1) or Restarting reveals which container has problems, and the exit code in parentheses gives a first hint about the cause.

Note: Docker commands require root or membership in the docker group. That group is practically equivalent to root privileges, so only grant it to trusted users.
